about

This album comes from my collaboration with French/Armenian choreographer Aline Derderian, titled 'L'antigonie' (2015): a piece of contemporary dance and music, based on the myth of Antigone (Cocteau's version), exploring the alternating physical & psychological states of the characters, as well as the embodiment of frustration and tragedy.

The project has been very kindly supported by the Arts Council England, UAL Univerity of the Arts London and ACOSS International Artist Residency Program. The selection of recordings presented in this album were made during the live performances of the dance project at TripSpace, East London (May'15).

Aline (with whom I also previously worked for Défigure sur la plage inerte) is an amazing choreographer, co-founder and director of the contemporary dance company Consensus. With L'antigonie, she aims to pay tribute to the victims of the Armenian genocide of 1915 in her own personal way.
